Delivering Happiness Bus Trip – Day 2 Part 1

11/4/2010

Busy day today!

Morning: Bloomberg Interview

Afternoon: EO (Enterpreneurs Organization) event – UCLA Korn Hall

Night: Mahalo BBQ (www.mahalo.com)- Santa Monica

It was very exciting to ride on DH Bus for the first time. The bus expands out!

Favorite moments of the day:
– meeting a new friend – Kalika Yap. She is the founder of Luxe Link. I did a review on Luxe Link purse holder last year. I absolutely love her products and the quality is amazing. My jaw dropped when she said she is the founder of Luxe Link. I absolutely adore her; so down to earth and personable.

– I was shocked when the bus expanded out (to have more sitting space on the bus). No one warned me in advance – thanks for the surprise :), so again, my jaw dropped. Wow!

– Eating sesame seaweed salad – yum (simple girl loves simple food)

Also, sharing with you something about Delivering Happiness book:
My favorite part of the book is when Tony almost ran out of money to keep his company alive (not that I like to see people suffer). I think it was very courageous of him to have made all those sacrifices and have taken the risks. He could have just walked away, but he didn’t give up. I admire that fearless attitude, especially when he believed firmly in what he was doing. Living on the edge really makes us feel more alive.

Sometimes it’s when we are at the lowest point of our lives, that we are able to figure out what we really want in life and grow to the next level. After all, nature of life is to grow. We stop growing when we are too comfortable in life. 🙂 So, go ahead, try something new today. 🙂

Here’s first part of Day 2. Enjoy!

Delivering Happiness Bus Trip – Day 1

I never had any desire to go visit Los Angeles due to its reputation for bad traffic and superficial culture.

I thought if one day I want to go see L.A. for myself, I should go with a bunch of cool people such as the Delivering Happiness team. 🙂

A big thank you to DH team for choosing me to join the tour for 3 days 2 nights.

Before joining the tour, as an introverted person, I felt a little nervous because I knew there will be many social events where I have to meet new people. I usually avoid any unnecessary situations where I have to make meaningless small talks. I can be professionally extroverted, but that could be painful at times.

Also, English is not my native language, so it’s kinda adding more salt to my wound. 😛

Having said that, I always try to push myself to step out of my comfort zone in order to grow.

It usually takes a long time for me to open up to anyone new, but surprisingly DH team makes me feel at home. When I am comfortable with myself, then I am able to build relationships. I feel like I can talk to them just about anything. I adore DH team – it’s dysfunctional at times, and yet it’s still functional (just like me :)) Planning for 23 cities tour is no easy task. I genuinely admire the strength of DH team. There’s a sense of family and a strong support system that keep them going.

Two personal core values that I hold dearly to are simplicity and authenticity. I hope DH team was able to see the real me and have enjoyed my short stay.

Here’s a short video on Day 1 that I edited.
(I had a hard time rendering .MOV video clips today. I am too tired to figure out tonight, so please excuse the low video quality. :))

Day 1 favorite moments:
– First time meeting DH team members & Christy, all dressed up looking fabulous
– Discovered three Scorpios on board (Joey 11/9 – same birthday as me, Gio 11/17 & Glenn 11/2)
– First time seeing the 47′ baby-blue DH bus 🙂
– Magic shows @ Magic Castle
– Chat with Laura about meditation & India

🙂

Sharpie Tattoo

I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo forever. I want the Chinese words “现在“ (means now) to be tattooed on my right wrist.

Stopped by at a tattoo parlor in Vegas early this year and the tattoo artist told me that the words “现在“ are too complicated for such a small area on my wrist. 🙁 BUMMER!

My dream came alive when I saw a photo on Delivering Happiness Facebook page – Tony Hsieh gave Sebastian Rusk a Sharpie Tattoo. Brilliant! How come I never thought of it? 🙂

I was so inspired that I Sharpie tattooed myself today.

Sharpie Tattoo - NOW

This tattoo might seems silly to some people, but hey, tattoo is art, and art is subjective. “NOW” has made me smile all day long. 🙂

Thanks to Tony for the inspiration.

Piano Seeking a Good Home

I have a free piano seeking a good home. Does anyone know any schools that would like a used piano with awesome sound?

Or, if you love music and would like this piano, please comment below with your contact information.

P/S: This piano babe is heavy! You’ll need to bring four strong men to take her home. 🙂

Meet My New Bus Mate

Since I can only bring one guest with me on my Delivering Happiness bus tour, I gotta choose wisely. Two of my friends can’t make it to the trip. Instead of just asking any friend (nothing personal!), I really want to share this special trip with someone who is as passionate about Delivering Happiness as I am.  Guess where I have to look for this person?

I read all the entries of Win A Seat on Delivering Happiness Bus and they were all great. I wish I could take all of the DH fans with me, on the bus, and spread the happiness together.  Wouldn’t that be super awesome?

Now, what’s the criteria for my bus mate? I was looking for someone who shares the same/similar core values as me and it has to be a “she” since we’ll be sharing a room.

I am quirky and fun, little weird, easy going, down to earth and yet fashionable, passionate about building business, etc.

Christy Annis

Christy Annis

Christy Annis’s entry  stood out among the rest.  I followed her on Twitter/Facebook for couple days. 🙂  I love her entrepreneurial spirit and she seems so polite, graceful and creative (+ all other awesome qualities).

So, I sent her an invitation to join me on the Bus.

As far as I know, she has been doing backflips non-stop since she received the news.

I think we’ll rock the Bus and have so much fun together.

Christy, I can’t wait to meet you and have our adventure!! 🙂 Girl power!
